Electrophysiology

United Regional's Electrophysiology program adds to our comprehensive cardiac care services. Our electrophysiologist provides expert care to those with abnormal heart rhythms within our community.

Choose United Regional Electrophysiology

United Regional Health Care System is proud to provide cutting edge solutions to those suffering from life threatening abnormal heart rhythms, also known as arrhythmia. Beyond available complex cardiac ablations, electrophysiologists provide access to advanced technology.

Electrophysiology Diagnostics and Services

Although many arrhythmias are harmless, some can be serious and even deadly. Abnormal heart rhythms include:

  • Arrhythmias (tachycardia and bradycardia)
  • Palpitations
  • Syncope
  • Atrial fibrillation
  • Atrial flutter
  • Ventricular arrhythmias
  • Supraventricular arrhythmias

Procedures available at United Regional are:

  • Pacemaker and defibrillator implant
  • Biventricular pacemaker and defibrillator implant
  • Supraventricular tachycardia ablation
  • Ventricular tachycardia and PVC ablation
  • Atrial fibrillation ablation (radiofrequency and cryoablation)
  • Atrial flutter ablation
  • Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome ablation
  • Implantable rhythm monitors
  • Subcutaneous defibrillator implant
  • Pulse field ablation

Beyond Traditional Solution for Arrhythmia

At United Regional, our electrophysiologist is dedicated to providing proven solutions to patients while continuously exploring new options for our community.

One such advancement is the leadless pacemaker. Unlike traditional pacemakers that require invasive surgeries to implant leads and the pulse generator under the skin, leadless pacemakers can be directly inserted into the right ventricle of the heart using a catheter through a blood vessel in the leg. This procedure greatly reduces recovery time and discomfort, with no overnight stay required after surgery. This superior monitoring technology enables our providers to remotely access data and receive real-time updates on cardiac activity. This procedure is suitable for patients who may have a higher risk of experiencing a device-related infection.

Pulse field ablation (PFA) is the first new technology introduced in decades to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), the most common heart rhythm disorder. Prior to PFA, the primary methods for treating AFib included thermal energy (heat) or cryoablation (cold). While these treatments have been effective, the new PFA technology offers an extremely safe alternative with the same level of effectiveness but with fewer risks. This breakthrough means that more patients — regardless of age — can now consider ablation as an option for treating their AFib, rather than relying on lifelong medications.

United Regional is currently the only hospital in North Texas, outside of Dallas – Fort Worth, to offer this advanced treatment.
