United Regional’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program puts patients at the center of care.

This comprehensive program helps individuals manage diabetes through education and support from a collaborative team that includes physicians, certified diabetes educators, registered dietitians, and other health professionals. Recognized for its quality and patient-focused approach, the program empowers participants to take an active role in their health.

  • Diabetes overview
  • Education and management of diabetes before and after pregnancy
  • Exercise education
  • Goal setting and problem solving for daily living
  • Healthy coping
  • Insulin initiation
  • Insulin pump training, education and initiation

  • Meal planning and carbohydrate counting

Outpatients Diabetes Program at United Regional

We offer one-hour educational classes that help you and your family learn how to manage diabetes and lower the risk of complications. Classes are held regularly at the Transition Clinic, and we encourage family participation.

Our outpatient program follows the American Diabetes Association National Standards for Diabetes Self-management Education. Most major insurance plans — including Medicare — offer reimbursement for these services.

We also provide telehealth options through MyChart and by telephone, including a full assessment and personalized education sessions for you and your family.
