Patrick Roughneen, MD

Dr. Patrick T. Roughneen is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with United Regional Physician Group.

Dr. Roughneen began his studies in biochemistry at the University of Glasgow before earning his medical degree at the University of Leicester in England. He completed his general surgery training and research fellowship at the University of Texas in Houston, followed by a cardiac surgery fellowship at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston. He specialized in congenital heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and later completed his Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Roughneen’s passion for cardiac surgery began as a medical student, inspired by the complexity and impact of heart operations. He is known for his expertise in cardiac valve surgery, adult congenital heart disease, aneurysm surgery, mechanical circulatory support, and transplantation.
