United Regional Proudly Celebrated the Beginning of Construction of Our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

On September 15, joined by community leaders, staff members, and committed supporters, United Regional proudly celebrated the BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION OF OUR LEVEL III NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (NICU) — the only NICU within 100 miles of Wichita Falls. We anticipate achieving Level III NICU designation in 2027.

By upgrading to a Level III NICU, we'll be able to care for infants born as early as 26 weeks gestation, allowing 40 to 50 more families to remain in Wichita Falls each year instead of transferring to distant facilities. This means less travel, less stress, less expenses, and more time for parents to bond with their newborns — right here at home. The upgrade also includes expanding the nursery, acquiring specialized equipment, and recruiting additional staff to support this higher level of care.
