Abirami Tanjavur, MD

Dr. Abirami Tanjavur is a board-certified family medicine physician with United Regional Physician Group.

Dr. Tanjavur earned her medical degree from Rajah Muthaiah Medical College, Annamalai University, in India before completing her family medicine training at the Wichita Falls Family Practice Residency Program. Through her training, she developed expertise in evidence-based medicine, comprehensive primary care, preventive health, and the diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic conditions.

For Dr. Tanjavur, medicine has always been more than a career path, it is a calling. Inspired by her father, a devoted physician, she developed a passion for caring for others at a young age. His dedication and compassionate approach to patient care greatly influenced the way she partners with patients throughout their health care journeys.

Dr. Tanjavur takes the time to understand each patient's unique needs and provides personalized care to reflect their goals and values. She values caring for patients across a wide range of health needs, with a special focus on preventive care and long-term wellness. Her experiences in caring for patients with serious illnesses have deepened her appreciation for compassionate communication, especially during difficult conversations. One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is seeing patients improve their health and achieve their wellness goals.

Dr. Tanjavur appreciates the strong sense of connection and kindness that defines the Wichita Falls community. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons and considers family the heart of everything she does. She is also an avid animal lover and loves spending time with her husky, Ark. She enjoys an active lifestyle exploring nature, traveling, learning about history, and keeping up with the latest advances in medicine.
