Dr. Patrick T. Roughneen is a distinguished cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at United Regional, renowned for his remarkable legacy of decades-long medical leadership and extensive experience. 

With a broad spectrum of clinical interests, Dr. Roughneen is known for his expertise in cardiac valve surgery, adult congenital heart disease, aneurysm surgery, mechanical circulatory support, cardiac transplantation, and more. Additionally, Dr. Roughneen is an appointed Clinical Professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Texas McGovern School of Medicine in Houston, TX. 

He is Chairman of the University of Texas Cardiac Surgery Quality Collaborative, contributing towards optimized care for cardiac surgery patients throughout Texas. Dr. Roughneen proudly serves on the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Standards and Ethics Committee and the STS Workforce on Health Policy, Reform and Advocacy. 

Dr. Roughneen’s commitment to advancing the field is evident through his technical innovations in cardiac surgery and pioneering techniques in cardiac valve surgery. With over 100 articles and presentations in cardiac surgery, he is also a dedicated educator. 

Dr Roughneen is married with a daughter and one grandchild, and is an avid athlete and golfer.
